The optimizer engine in DISKOVER works with heuristics and metaheuristics from the field of artificial intelligence and thus automatically and efficiently solves tricky optimization tasks in the background.

The Service Level Booster, for example, is based on the Optimizer engine. Based on the desired overall delivery capability of a complete range of articles, it can set the best delivery readiness level for each field of any structured product portfolio in such a way that the overall delivery readiness is achieved with the lowest possible safety stocks.

DISKOVER's PP/DS module also uses the Optimizer engine to schedule production orders against limited capacity while keeping adherence to delivery dates, productivity and throughput as high as possible.

In addition to statistical methods, DISKOVER also makes extensive use of neural networks to forecast demand.

But even neural networks cannot predict chaotic behavior, can be overtrained or untrained, too sluggish or too dynamic, overfitting can occur or incorrect influencing variables can be overinterpreted.

For this reason, the results of neural networks are also checked by means of empirical simulation and must prove themselves in competition with other forecast variants in order to be used for the forecast of an article.

This all happens in the background without burdening the user.
